Hans Egstorf was founded in 1898. Since then, our shop at Spuistraat 274 has continuously operated as a bakery, making it the oldest active bakery in Amsterdam. The beautiful Art Nouveau corner building was designed by the renowned Dutch architect Gerrit van Arkel during the Belle Époque. Generations of bakers have practised their craft here, and we are proud to continue this tradition and share our love for baking with people around the world.

We bake our Stroopwafels using a cherished family recipe. A lightly spiced dough is pressed between hot irons until golden, then filled with warm stroop, which is a smooth caramel syrup made from sugar, butter and spices. We are open 7 days a week, from 08.00 - 22.00.

Delivery times vary by destination. Our bakers dispatch your order within 1–2 business days. We ship with PostNL and you can also choose DHL Express at checkout for faster international delivery. PostNL typically delivers within 1–3 business days in the Netherlands and 2–7 days within Europe. DHL Express usually delivers within 1–4 business days worldwide. You will receive tracking updates throughout the shipping process. Tip: order early during holidays to ensure timely delivery.

Yes. Our Stroopwafels are baked daily and packaged immediately to maintain their flavor and crunch. Each product has a THT (best-before) date on the label. This is usually approximately 3 months from the date they are shipped, so they stay delicious during international shipping.

Every order also includes a “how to store” leaflet with simple tips to keep your Stroopwafels fresh for as long as possible. Follow these guidelines and your Stroopwafels will remain crisp, soft in the middle, and perfectly enjoyable.

We are very sorry about that. We pack every order with great care, but if a package arrives damaged, with items missing or incorrect, please let us know within 24 hours of receiving your package.
